After you approve your endpoint mappings, Connector Studio turns your field-level mappings into transformation files. These files hold the rules that convert a source API payload into the shape the target API expects at runtime. Connector Studio generates one of two formats:
  • REST connectors use JOLT templates, which transform JSON into JSON.
  • SOAP connectors use Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) templates, which transform XML into XML.
Connector Studio generates these files from the mappings you approve. You can then preview them with sample data before you download or deploy them.

What Connector Studio generates

Connector Studio builds transformations from approved work only:
  • The operation mapping must be approved. A draft AI suggestion doesn’t produce output.
  • The property mappings under that operation must also be approved, for every field you expect in the output.
If a preview or a set of generated code comes back empty, the operations or the properties are usually still in draft.

Open the generated transform

In the Mapping Workspace, expand Generated Transform to see the JOLT or XSLT file for the endpoint and the input or output type you selected. The panel also reports the Match confidence and, where available, the Round-trip fidelity. You can edit the JOLT or XSLT content directly in the panel. To keep your edits, select Save. To discard unsaved edits, select Discard. To restore the version Connector Studio generated from your mappings, select Revert to original. From the panel, you can also Copy the file, Preview it, or Download ZIP. The ZIP contains transformation files only, not connector code. If you see No generated transform returned for this operation, approve the operation and its properties, then return to the panel. The panel reloads whenever the mappings change.

Preview a transformation

To open the preview, select Preview in the Generated Transform panel, or Preview Transformations on the Mappings tab. The Transformation Preview dialog has three columns: To run a preview:

Set the sample input

Check the sample input. Edit the JSON or XML directly, or select an entry from Schema examples… where one is available.To build a realistic sample from the source schema, select Generate Example. You can add agent instructions, such as a request for locale-specific test data.

Run the transformation

Select Run Transformation.

Check the output

Review the Output column. If the result is wrong, correct the mappings in the workspace, then run the preview again.

Preview and download from the Mappings tab

Under Approved Mappings on the Mappings tab, you have two actions: If the preview is empty, check the following:
  • The parent operation row is approved. Approving individual properties isn’t enough.
  • For SOAP connectors, the request property mappings are approved. The XSLT generator reads the request side.
  • For REST connectors, both the request and the response mappings are approved, if you expect output from both. Each side produces its own output.

Download the generated code

To see the output for a project, open the Generated Code tab on the project overview. The tab holds transformation files, route preview artifacts where available, and metadata. You can Copy or Download each file. Until you approve some mappings, the tab shows No generated code artifacts yet. Approve mappings to generate JOLT or XSLT transformations. To download connector artifacts as a ZIP archive, select Download code in the project header. This archive is separate from the transformation-only ZIP you get from Download Transformations or from Download ZIP in the Generated Transform panel.
