The Onfido connector provides connectivity with Onfido, designed to help you streamline identity verification, enhance security, and accelerate customer onboarding.

Key capabilities

Real-time verification

AI and biometric authentication for instant identity verification.

Automated compliance

Streamlined KYC processes to meet regulatory requirements.

Document downloads

Access workflow artifacts, evidence reports, and audit trails.

Identity verification events

Receive push notifications through Sync Hub when an Onfido identity verification workflow completes, without polling for results.

Supported operations

The Onfido connector supports the following operations from the Banking OS Unified API:

Outbound

Inbound (webhook)

Replace {PARTY_LIFECYCLE_INBOUND_BASE_URL} with the Party Lifecycle inbound API base URL provided during setup. Register this URL in your Onfido Studio configuration to receive identity verification workflow results.

Identity verification events (Sync Hub)

When Onfido completes an identity verification workflow, it sends a workflow_run.completed webhook to the inbound connector. The connector validates the request and transforms the payload. When the notification.mode configuration property is EVENT or BOTH, the connector publishes an identity verification event to Sync Hub. Downstream consumers subscribe to Sync Hub to receive the identity verification event. For the EVENT and BOTH values, you don’t need to poll Onfido for workflow results. The following table lists the Onfido webhook event, the Sync Hub topic, and the CloudEvent type: Published events use the standard Banking OS envelope. The Sync Hub data object follows the identity verification event schema. It includes party information, workflow identifiers, status, decision metadata, and the raw Onfido webhook as data.rawVendorResponse. POST /workflow-result and the IPA callback use the Unified API workflowResults schema. You can still retrieve results on demand with POST /workflow-result. That pull path is separate from the inbound webhook and Sync Hub publication.
For more information about how Sync Hub distributes events to multiple consumers, see Sync Hub overview. For more information about delivery mode configuration (notification.mode), see Get started.
